It’s not very often that the “famous for being famous” set touches down on the insurance world, but it did when Nationwide Mutual Insurance Co. announced that Kevin Federline, ex-husband of Britney Spears, will be appearing in an insurance commercial during this year’s Super Bowl.

K-Fed’s appearance in the ad is part of the company’s “Life Comes at You Fast” marketing campaign.

It appears Federline, 28, will be poking fun at himself and his career (his debut rap album, released last fall, sold a paltry 6,500 copies in its first week) in the ad: one source reported that the spot will have him demoted from a life of bling and beautiful girls to one where he works in a fast food joint.

Other celebrities who have appeared in Nationwide Mutual ad campaigns include MC Hammer and Fabio. The company is one of the largest insurers in the United States, with more than $150 billion in assets.

Spears divorced Federline in November after two years of marriage.
