I am a small business employer. If I have an employer-paid long-term disability insurance policy and an employee goes on long-term disability, how long do I continue to pay the premiums?
Answer: Given how important this issue is, both for you and your employee, I would check with your state Department of Insurance, or a legal professional who works in the area of insurance. I’d also speak to your insurance company. Until you have a clear answer, I would not stop paying those premiums since you would be at risk of disrupting any LTD payments to your employee.
