Getting Insurance after being Uninsured

I have a person here who was previously insured. He allowed his insurance to be cancelled after an NSF check. (He did not make good after the check). He did not need to drive for a year and a half and did not bother to follow up. Now he wishes to insure his vehicle. What are his options? How can he insure?

Answer:

Unfortunately, this person's credit history will come into play in getting insurance. He may have to take insurance at a much higher cost than he is currently willing to pay. Or, he may have to secure his insurance with payment of premium for the year, upfront.

I'd suggest that he work with a broker who understands the issues involved with getting insurance after cancellation for non-payment. It could help you to identify the right companies, as well as to figure out what options are available.
