Insurance in Case of Layoff

Is there a type of insurance that I can get to cover some of my household expenses if I am laid off for a month or so?

Answer:

This is what unemployment insurance is supposed to do for you. However, as we know, unemployment insurance is usually a much smaller benefit than your normal pay check. Having said that, there is no other insurance that you can get personally which really meets your criteria. If you are worried in particular about credit card debt, you can get insurance for your credit card (in most cases) that will cover you in cases where you can't pay. However, you need to be sure that it will actually make payments if you are laid off. That means reading the fine print very carefully.
