Restrictions on Overnight Guests
Can an insurance agent tell you someone cannot spend the night at your house? He said it was because the owners had five claims since 1981; one was a house fire. However, that house fire was determined to be the cause of old wiring.
I have never heard of this before. However, I would first check my policy and see if the fine print says anything about the insurance company being able to impose new conditions over the life of the policy. I'd also check and see if there is any condition that might relate to "guests" in the home and whether damage caused by those guests is covered. If no clauses like this were in the policy, a half-hour of free legal advice would be my suggestion.
