In 1987 my grandfather and I had policies purchased for the two of us. He has since passed, yet I am unaware of whom the policy was with. Is there a list of all the insurance companies so that I can contact them concerning this issue or do you know a simple way?

Your best bet is to go through his personal papers and hope that he kept good records of his payments.
