Insurance Questions and the State Department of Insurance

A policy was taken out on me through the Maccabees Association. It appears that Maccabees was acquired by Reassure American Life Ins. I contacted Reassure, in Dallas Texas.  The research of their records were unsuccessful in providing any information on the policy. The correspondence received from them indicated they only maintain inactive records for 7 years.

I assume Maccabees was licensed by the State. Since the policy was issued to a Pennsylvania resident in 1938, is there a specific department that I could contact  for information or direction?

Answer:

This is an old policy, so you may have some significant challenges in finding out information about it. However, you can try the Pennsylvania Department of Insurance, and see if they can give you any help. You may find that their records are also skimpy or non-existant for policies of this age.
