How to Find a Policy

My husband died  unexpectedly in November 2005. He left me an Insurance policy for $40,000.00US. I cannot find it anywhere; I don't even remember the company name.

Answer:

Your first step should be to try and find the application for this policy. If it is within the past 10 years, you should be able to find the application through the MIB database. Go to MIB.com and you will find a link to their Policy Locator Service on the home page. Once you know which company your husband applied to, you should be able to follow up with that company and discover if there is a policy.

There are no guarantees with this service. If your husband took the policy out more than 10 years ago, you might not find the application. But this is your best bet.
