Getting Insurance in Florida During Severe Weather Warning

Does anyone in Florida issue insurance during the severe weather warning? I have a client wanting to close on a new home.

Answer:

Virtually no private insurance carrier will be willing to issue insurance during a severe weather warning.

If you need to get insurance during a severe weather warning, I would contact FIMA to see if you can get flood, water, hurricane and wind damage coverage through them. Then, once you have that coverage, get a basic homeowners policy through another carrier. Another carrier should be willing to give you a basic policy if you have these other "extreme  weather" perils covered.
