I am interested in finding out what companies actually write flood
insurance policies for Marco Island, Florida. I have been told by my
present agent and others that Citizens is the only company that insures in this
area. Before I fill out a lot of forms I would like to expand my options.

Your best bet to find out if there are any other insurers that will cover you is to contact the Florida Department of Financial Services. They are responsible for regulating and monitoring insurers in Florida, and are the equivalent of the "Department of Insurance" for Florida.
I've searched their site and the company search tool does not let you locate insurance companies by location. However, I think it's worth a call to the Customer Service Line at the FDFC to see if they might be able to help you out at 1-800-342-2762.
